Found some 35mm slides of summer camp, just need to work out how to get these in an electronic format - any ideas? One shows Trev Smith, Baldev Singh, Paul Heptonstall, Brian Downey, ? Cope, Roy Ballinger, Brian Reeves and Dave Sands.
Merry Christmas to all you 216ers out there where ever you may be.

Morning all,
I think I've been missing out on something here....
Just been sent the link to this site by Ian Lancaster and I'm impressed.
I often used to wonder what happened to so and so etc but never really got round to checking despite the wonders of the WWW
So to all of the 216th entry, hello there where have you been, what's been happening??
:-)
Anyone remember me from the old days? Give me a shout.
Cheers for now
Best regards,
Keith Leyland

To all who organised last weekend, my thanks go out to you. I had a wonderful time both catching up with old friends and meeting others from our entry. The trip up to Halton brought back so many old memories, it was great to see the place again, albeit a little quieter since we were there
wish I'de bin there
Guys, many thanks for a great weekend. Although there were many of you who I never knew from the old days we all have an instant rappore as members of 216. I found the pipe band and the visit to the church brought back memories long forgotten, assisted by the new recruits with the yellow cap badges! Thanks once again for a brilliant weekend, I look forward to the next one.
Thanks again to all for a great weekend
Ross, Chunky and the rest of the comittee. Brilliant reunion weekend. Thanks very much guys. Great to see some of the old faces and chat about old times.
Great reunion. nice to see you all again
216 reunion 2011 - yet another brilliant Kneath-Anderson production!
Enjoy your reunion I was with you 40 years ago 404 Entry. Best wishes.
Hi Russ get in touch through the contact us email so we can keep you updated and tell whats going
I can't believe that I have just seen a photo of myself standing next to the Comet flight float in 70-71.
Just found this site, and the memories are flooding back. It's wonderful to see the old photographs ,and see names that one remembers from so many years ago.I am living in Texas, but would love to make the reunion this year and meet some of my old friends again. Jim Brophy,John Coates,Paul Bishop,Jeff Firth, does anyone know how to contact these guys?
Hi Baldev! Great to hear from you. I hope you have received the emails Ross and I sent to you. If not, can you please check your spam box. In the run-up to the reunion in October, it might be a good idea for anyone else reading this to also check their spam boxes regularly for emails from Ross. All the best Les
WOW ! what a site. Found the site accidently but with delight excitement and wonder. Since I left England to reside in Canada I have been waiting for an offer of a reunion of the great 216. Congratulations Ross. 69-71 was an excellent time in our lives and all those wonderful memories we have carried with us for the last 40 years.
Excellent site, so amazed to see it, and so chuffed too, sorry to hear of the ones who have (gone west,) incredible to see so many of the old faces photos and names, conjured up so many memories, oh the days we had and the ways we were, and the memories that never fade.
My finest regards to you all, Dave Dougan ( F104 ex Comet Flight)
Hi guys, have had a great e-mail from Ross after my discovery of the 216 site. couldn't beleive it when I saw the photo of the moose and the lads. I really hope I can make the reunion this year and see how you have all faired ha ha. Great web site. As Dave Appleton and the rest say, 216 forever
Just got to this site, to find out that Brain Boxall and Martin Hewitt had passed away. Names and faces that I remember very well. A lot has happened since those days of 69- 71
Just to say the same as the previous message, thankyou very much to Ross & Des. Shame you eren't there guys. To see what occurs in todays Air Force after a few years away was realy interesting. Heres to next year and 40 years since we passed out, hope it is as interesting as today was. See you next year.
Thanks to Des and Ross for sorting out the visit to Brize today. Shame neither of you could make it. Billy was, again, an excellent host. Looking forward to next year and perhaps a bigger turnout for the 40th anniversary of our passing out.
Hope the triennial is as good this year as all previous ones. First one I've missed in quite a while. Will be at the next one tho and the reunion next year. If your going have a good day. Put some photos on the site
Hi all is anyone staying on the camp on the 24th the night before the triennial if so get in touch so we can arrange to meet up
rgds George
HOPE TO JOIN SOON EX SPITFIRE LECKIE
May I wish all of you all the best for 2010, I was one of those who never made the full course and opted to return back to the Isle of Man before the end of lead-in. However the short time I spent in Spitfire on 3 wing then Comet on 1 wing is firmly etched in my memory. All the best to you. nicky.mulhern@manx.net
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year. Hope 2010 is a good one for you all.
Dave Young.
I am glad you all had a great time at the reunion and sorry that I could not attend.Just been going over some of the stories and looking at the photos brought back memories.I seem to recall that a certain Dave Stride and yours truly raided the Officers Mess when we became senior entry and made off with a fire extinguisher, I slipped on the way down from the roof and Stridey had to carry me and fire extinguisher across the lawn.Other names that come to mind are Keith Taylor, Clive (chopper) Watson,Tasker can not remember his first name,Mel Pearson, Fraser again cannot remember his first name.
I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year.
Yes, I didn't hear about the 40th anniversary bash but I couldn't have got there anyway as I'm roughing it in the Seychelles! My email address is dick.bygrave@btinternet.com for anyone who'd like a chat and catch-up.
Dick, thanks for your commnets here and on the flicker web site - sorry you were not at the 40th anniversary bash. Let me have your e-mail and I will get in contact. My phone no is 07966 878216. I still have a couple of photos of you from the weekend spent your house in Hitchin but they are not on the site. let's catch up!
Bloody hell! I was chatting to Robbie Toseland this afternoon and he suggested I take a look at the site. The memories just flooded back. The picture gallery is fantastic. Well done all those who are organised enough to remember where all the old pictures are stored. A lovely site Ross.
well it must have been a great weekend because Tony Green had to come out to Australia to recover. On the plus side he also brought some much needed rain with him. However he forgot the photos. (Maybe we really are getting old and forgetful). Great time tho' and looking forward to getting (hopefully) to the next event.
An unforgettable weekend even having missed the flight. Well done to the organisers, I'm sure you were keeping your fingers crossed for a successful event and you achieved it in bucketfuls. Though thought perhaps you could of had a word about the weather on Sunday Ross, or Mr Wikepedia as I'm now going to call you.Fantastic meeting up with so many good friends and remembering others. Look forward to our next drill parade (never thought I'd say that) and Grant, I promise you that pinta !
Hi everyone, just to re-iterate the comments of others..... a great weekend Ross and many thanks to yourself and the other organisers for all your hard work the 216 Sqn flight was fantastic and the guys/gals great .
Hi all,
Excellent weekend and well managed by Ross and the team. Thank you again. I had many good memories and the band in the mess was a nice touch. The marching left a little to be improved upon guys. So after bull night meet on the square for another hour of drill!
Regards to all, Ray
I can see that some of you have been visiting the pictures at Flickr.com Great.
Please do leave comments on the text box below, just type in any info, names etc that will be useful to me when putting together the final record. My plan is to create a CD slideshow of the evnt with music, pipes etc. watch this space and do let me have those comments on the pics.
John A.
Thanks to Ross,Paul and all the others that made the weekend so special. We may be a little older but certainly no wiser when it comes to drinking. Looking forward to the next one and hope more Meteor flt turn up. Shame they have renamed the block Typhon. Thanks once again to all the orginisers for a memorable weekend. John Clarke
Hi, everyone - It was great to see you all last weekend having so much fun. Currently working on the photos, you can see 100 best shots at Flickr.com photo website, you have to register but it is free to view and then search on either J.Afd or 216 Reunion that will take you to a set of pictures which you can browse and downlaod them if you wish, but they are only at low resolutions.
Fantastic weekend, thanks to Ross,Paul,John,Tony and everyone else involved. It was really great seeing so many old faces again, hardly changed at all have we lads? Special thanks to Chunky for his wonderful hospitality. 216 forever.
Brilliant weekend, thanks Ross, Paul, Tony, John, 216 Sqn and Ann Anfield who got the wives and partners together according to Hilary they had as much fun as we did. In particular it was good seeing Dave Holland but i still didn't get the 3 puffs you owe me, however as I don't smoke any more next time round you can buy me a pint (milk of course). Thanks to everyone who made it one of the best weekends, Ross i am still chuckling to myself now over the things that we used to get up to. Hope Yvonne is up and about soon love to meet her at the next one.
Cheers Grant

Hi guys. What most of you would not know is that for the last nine years I have been the main conact between the Australian Halton Apprentices and the main HAAA Association. Quite a responsibility for a mere craft apprentice. Unfortunately due to reclining membership I sent my last newsletter out this month. A rather sad event especially as the NZ branch seems to be be booming. That said I hope that our new group (The mighty 216) will now blossum and from our few beers of 2007 many will grow. You know how it is.1111111111111. If you need any help from this wnd let me know
Hi
Well done to all involved in the website and window, nice to see Chunky again.
Thanks for the contact letter Ross, unfortunately to late to make the reunion, however i will stay in contact and look forward to attending the next one.
Cheers
Jim
Congrats on the website Ross and of course all the other guys who have given their time to form the 216 entry association (always thought you'd make a good secretary !!!!!) Look forward to meeting up with some long lost friends in October for perhaps a wee dram of alcohol, and finally scotch the rumour about that bloody werewolf that lived in the hills behind us.
Ross, great website. Martin Hewitt's comment rang a bell, I've told my wife about budge's
(I think we called him budge) jump form the top floor (yes the top floor) for 50p and I'm sure she didn't believe me. He made it look easy as his bandy legs took all the impact out ofthe landing. Phil's photogtraph of Meteor flight was also great to see, I could not even remember us doing it. By the way, I'm 5th from the left on the back row. I have got some photos taken around Meteor Flight circa 1970 which I will send in to you.
Great web site Ross ,hope to see all the boys at the reunion. I wonder if Charlie Burgin will do his party trick of jumping out of the first floor window for 50p ???
Spent a weekend with chunky a few weeks ago (thank you chunky it as brilliant) he took Hilary and I to Halton and what a surprise to see our window installed at the church. We only saw it from the outside but it is magnificent and really colourful. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the re-union in October. Thanks again Chunky for the weekend really brought back memories of our time in Cyprus together.
Hi Ross,
Site is great. Soon to see those from years gone by and see you at the reunion. Is that hill still steep? Think it was Flt Lt Sinclair i/c 'Spitfire'?
Ross, Really good job on the site.
I am planning to make the trip in October...one or two things have to happen first though, but I am hopeful.
I am shocked and stunned at the newsletters you put together great job! Now I am going to scrambling around for some snaps......
If you want a memory of Oct 69- Oct 71, just picture Chris Phillpot with his Dad's prosthetic arm under his raincoat holding his brief case marching down to the school!! Bag swing all over the place...definitely not in time with the drum. I think I wet myself laughing all the way past main point.
Lep roight, lep roight.......KNEATH keep in step!!!!!
See you all soon I hope!

Hi Ross,
Great website, keep up the good work. Hello to all my old friends from C Flt. Count me in for the reunion, it will be good to catch up with you all, besides I`m sure Dave McGurk still owes me a pint from 1971!!! See you all soon.
Hi Ross,
Like the website and enjoyed the news letters (and pics). Saw the advert in the RAF News and have saved the site as one of my favourites. Unfortunately, can't make the 40th (away golfing in SA) but will keep an eye on the site for any future get togethers. Regards to all who know/remember me at the 40th.
Good start Ross, nearly as technical as a train, looking forward to the 40th, Grum
It's good to read all the coments so far. It dosn't seem like 40 years since we all met for the first time. I hope to be at the reunion to see many familiar if older faces once again.
First time on the site, good layout, keep up the good work.
Hi Ross & All,
Excellent work mate the web site looks great, love the layout even I can use it! Looking forward to the reunion and a beer or 2. Keep up the good work, all the best.
Chris
Hi guys. Web site looks great from way down under. Won't get to this next reunion but hope to catch up with you all in the not too distant future.
Hi Ross, great that you have managed to get the web site up and running. Hope to make the reunion if our wedding anniversary doesn’t get in the way, or I might be in trouble. Nice to see some of the forgotten names, not sure if we will be able to recognize each other, name tags are a must.
Hi Ross and all the other 216 guys,
Nice sight and I'm sure it can only get better. Look forward to hearing from other ex-spitfire leckies.
Ross and everyone involved with the website, well done and keep up the good work. I'm really looking forward to catching up with the rest of the brats (as we were so fondly known back in those days). All the best
Dave
great to see 216 catching up at last, keep up the good work !.
First time on the site, very good job Ross. Will book holiday early this year so that I can make the reunion.
Hi Ross Nice start to the web site. Looking forward to the reunion, we better make sure we have name tags!!!!
I'm really pleased to see more and more 216ers leaving comments. Let's hope we get loads more. This site is great and will only get better. Thanks for all the hard work.
Excellent site, keep up the good work.
Hi Ross,
Really like the new site mate, it can only get better. Long live 216.
Great site, many thanks for doing this I will spread the word.
Hi Ross, it is a fabulous website which makes all the memories flood back. Thank you so much for being the driving force behind all of this and also for the reunion last year. It was so wonderful to catch up with all the guys (who all look so young) and to meet some of their families - Grant Kirkup was so recognisable and familiar, obviously the football or his lovely lady is keeping him young. I happened to be over at RAF Halton 2 weeks ago - always a thrill to see the old place - I even drove around Wellington Block and externally not a lot has changed. I am still soldiering on at RAF High Wycombe in what is now HQ Air Cmd - change of CinC tomorrow with a Harrier Fly Past. I think the 216 Website really has a very nice layout - I will see what pictures I can find. All for now - "Phil of the RAF Med Ops World" - crazy eh! On! On!
Great effort Ross, well done for getting it up and running. A lot of potential I think. Is anyone's memory good enough for a line book? What about a 'When I was at Halton...' section for anyone to add a short story of their time on 216? Also if people don't object the members section could have a 'where are they now' block. I am sure there will be lots of other good links as well. Keep it up!
Ross
Brilliant, lets hope we get a good response for the reunion.
Hi Ross
Great site with masses of potential - but then I have watched (& helped0 you build it ;-))
Yvonne
xx
